83 years ago today, Dr. Crawford W. Long administered ether anesthesia during surgery. It was a huge advance in medical technology, not just for the United States but for the medical world as a whole. One year later, in 1933, National Doctor’s Day was officially born. It’s one of our favorite days of the year, a day where we get an excuse to shamelessly promote, brag about, and dote on the fabulous doctors our clients have on staff.
National Doctor’s Day was created for just that: to recognize the men and women in our industry for the technical advancements they’ve achieved, as well as to show our support and encouragement and appreciation for everything that they do. It’s a day to let them know that we’re never taking them for granted, even if we don’t always show that, and that we think they’re absolutely positively fan-flipping-tastic.
There’s a lot of ways that we as marketers can appreciate our doctors, some of them more expensive and some of them free. Maybe you show your appreciation through gift giving, maybe it’s a hand-written note signed by the office staff. Maybe your appreciation comes through words or deeds or small acts of kindness. Maybe it’s simply showing your doctors the respect you have for their job and for the person they choose to be each and every day.
