10 Things To Do While Recovering From A Rhinoplasty

10 things to do while recovering from a rhinoplasty

Recovering from plastic surgery isn’t easy. It’s a long (and often painful) process, and how long your recovery takes depends on what type of procedure you had done. A Rhinoplasty, or nose job, usually takes about 2-3 weeks to fully recover from. Yep, you read that right. Almost three weeks. It can be a little bit different for everyone, but that’s the general timeline, and yes. That’s a crazy amount of time.

You might find yourself wondering what you could possibly do to fill three weeks’ worth of time. You might even be viewing the time off as an inconvenience…don’t. Your rhinoplasty recovery could be the best thing that’s ever happened to you! Think about it. Two to three weeks to do whatever you want. Still struggling to figure out how you’ll fill your time? We’ve got a few suggestions. Here are 10 things you could do while recovering from your rhinoplasty:

1.     Have a harry Potter Marathon.

2.     Paint your nails, and check out essie.com for the latest trends.

3.     Read a good book, or three!

4.     Try cooking something new; get Chrissy Teigen’s “Cravings” here.

5.     Catch up on Greys Anatomy…all 12 seasons...

6.     Fall in love with a vampire on Vampire Diaries.

7.     Call a friend that you miss, just to say hello.

8.     Organize your closet; who doesn’t love color coordination?

9.     Paint a picture; check out Pinterest.com for great tutorials.

10.  Get an adult coloring book from Marshalls.

Doesn’t sound so bad after all, right? Recovery can take a while, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try to make the process fun! That being said, make sure that you’re following your doctor’s not-so-fun recovery recommendations as well.

Throughout recovery period it is recommended to avoid dusty, dry places because the nose cannot be blown and this could lead to infection. Take this time inside to get to know your new nose. While swelling may occur it will not be severe, and you will be able to immediately see the effects of the reconstructive surgery. Smiling in the mirror is a great way to avoid feeling self-conscious in the few weeks following the nose job as the tip of the nose may still feel numb.

Following the surgery patients are often anxious about causing harm to the recovery process. While it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise for two weeks, touching the nose and feeling its new shape will not harm the nose or recovery.

Now sit back, relax and read a book… you have 2-3 weeks recovery time. How are you going to spend it?
